Naeba-san is experiencing light mist and rain this morning, with the felt temperature at the summit hovering around 12°C. All trails are wet, and the boardwalks across the expansive summit plateau, known for its vast wetlands, will be particularly slippery due to the rain. It is strictly forbidden to step off the boardwalks into the fragile wetland areas around the pondages.

Adequate cold weather gear is essential for hiking in these conditions. A wicking base layer, a warm fleece mid-layer, and a waterproof/breathable outer shell (jacket and pants) are mandatory. Carrying gloves and a hat is also recommended to prevent heat loss when wet.

Current visibility is 1.7km. The summit plateau is vast and featureless, making it highly susceptible to disorientation if dense fog develops. While a temporary improvement in weather and visibility is possible around noon, light mist and reduced visibility are forecast to return in the afternoon. Pay close attention to weather changes and constantly confirm your location.

There are no forecasts for strong winds or thunderstorms, but the combination of rain and cool temperatures consistently poses a risk of hypothermia. It is crucial to turn back if you feel any physical discomfort. Light mist will continue into the evening, but skies may clear after midnight, offering a chance for stargazing. However, temperatures will drop to around 11°C, requiring continued vigilance with warm clothing for any nighttime activities or stationary periods.
