Mount Iwate's summit area remains under thin clouds with visibility below 1km this morning. At 7:00 AM, the summit temperature was 10.8°C, feeling like 10.1°C, a nearly 9°C difference from the base. While the temperature is expected to rise to 15°C by 3:00 PM, high humidity and poor visibility will make it feel colder than the actual reading.

Despite no precipitation, trails are likely wet and potentially muddy due to high humidity and overcast conditions. Particular caution is advised when traversing the exposed terrain above the tree line and around the rim of the Yakushidake crater, as wet loose rocks increase the risk of slipping.

Gusts are forecast up to 9.1m/s, which is not considered strong wind, but it can still affect exposed areas. The combination of poor visibility, high humidity, and moderate wind gusts elevates the risk of hypothermia. Essential gear includes waterproof and breathable outer layers, a quick-drying base layer, and a fleece mid-layer for effective temperature regulation. Crampons or microspikes are not necessary, but sturdy trekking shoes with good grip are crucial for the wet and potentially slippery ground.

Conditions are expected to improve slightly towards evening with partly clear skies, but visibility may not fully recover. It is recommended to complete your ascent and descent well before late afternoon.
