Light drizzle is expected to begin after 9:00 AM, with intermittent drizzle continuing throughout the day. Precipitation may reach 1 millimeter per hour in the afternoon, which will further lower the perceived temperature as you get wet. In areas like the Rock Garden, the wet boulders will be slippery, increasing the risk of falls and slips. The persistent dense fog with visibility under 1 kilometer significantly raises the risk of getting lost, a specific danger associated with Mt. Tomuraushi.
For layering, wear a moisture-wicking base layer, a fleece or light down jacket as a mid-layer, and always carry a waterproof and breathable shell jacket and pants. Waterproof hiking boots are also essential.
Although temperatures are low, the wind is light, so the risk of lightning or strong winds is low. However, getting wet from drizzle, poor visibility due to dense fog, and prolonged activity can lead to hypothermia and getting lost. Given that Mt. Tomuraushi is a long course difficult to complete in a day, avoiding strenuous activity in bad weather and having the courage to revise your plan or turn back is crucial for safety. Precipitation is expected to cease in the evening, but temperatures will drop further.
