Conditions generally good — Conduct standard mountain safety measures
Currently, Mt. Tsurugi summit is cloudy with visibility less than 1km, offering no distant views. The felt temperature is 5.9°C. Although partly cloudy conditions are expected to persist through the day, light drizzle is forecasted from around 3 PM, which will begin to wet the rock faces, making them slippery. Winds will remain calm throughout the day, with gusts up to 4.5 m/s, posing minimal risk from strong winds.
This combination of poor visibility and wet rock significantly increases the risk of falls on steep, exposed rocky sections like Kani-no-Tatebai and Kani-no-Yokobai. Extreme caution is advised. Thoroughly check your footing and carefully confirm the stability of chains and handholds before committing. The risk of rockfall may also be elevated under these conditions, so pay attention to your surroundings. A helmet is mandatory for all climbers.
For today's ascent, a base layer, a mid-layer such as a fleece or lightweight insulated jacket, and a waterproof-breathable outer shell are essential. While body temperature will rise during activity, it can drop quickly during stops due to the cool, damp conditions, so regulate your temperature by layering on and off as needed. Always carry full rain gear, warm gloves, and extra insulation. Crampons or microspikes are not required as there is no snow cover. The risk of hypothermia is currently low, but prolonged stops in wet conditions should be avoided.
Weather conditions will deteriorate towards night. After 9 PM, the chance of precipitation rises sharply to 96%, transitioning to light rain by midnight and steady rain by 3 AM, with rainfall reaching 5.2mm. The ground will become fully saturated and slippery. While no thunderstorms are indicated, nighttime travel is not recommended due to increased precipitation and reduced
