The summit currently experiences heavy rain, with a temperature of 14.8℃ and a feel-like temperature of 14.4℃. Visibility is less than 1km due to dense fog. Heavy rain also continues around the Yodogawa Trailhead at the base, with a temperature difference of about 3℃ from the summit. Heavy rain is expected to continue intermittently throughout the day, with precipitation reaching 10mm per hour around 9 AM. Gusts could exceed 16 m/s, further lowering the feel-like temperature on a wet body.
Mount Miyanoura is known for its exceptionally high rainfall. This continuous heavy rain will inevitably lead to rapid swelling of streams and rivers. Especially along the route from Yodogawa Trailhead, the danger at stream crossings will significantly increase. Near Hananoego Wetlands and other areas, the risk of getting lost due to poor visibility is extremely high. While GPS and map usage are essential, navigating under these conditions would be extremely challenging even for experienced hikers. The ground will be constantly wet and muddy. Rock faces will also be slippery.
The risk of hypothermia is very high. Although the temperature is in the mid-14s℃, heavy rain, high humidity, and wind will rapidly cool the body. A quick-drying base layer, an insulating mid-layer, and a fully waterproof and breathable outer shell are essential. During breaks, wear an additional insulating layer over your active wear to prevent getting wet and cold. Crampons or microspikes are not necessary. No thunderstorms are forecasted, but localized thunderstorms should be considered in this high-rainfall area.
Rain will continue into the night, with some periods of heavy rainfall. Visibility is not expected to improve, and stream levels will remain high. Given the long approach to this mountain range, entry under these conditions should be strictly avoided.
