Mount Shari summit is currently cloudy with a temperature of 3.3°C, feeling like 0°C. Humidity is very high at 99%, and visibility is less than 1km due to dense fog. The base area is 7.7°C, a 4.4°C difference from the summit. Cloudy conditions will persist throughout the day, with temperatures rising to around 6°C, but high humidity will remain. Precipitation probability is low, with no significant rainfall expected.

Ground conditions are anticipated to be wet to muddy overall due to high humidity and previous rainfall. Specifically, the Old Route (Kyu-do) via the stream, which features continuous waterfalls, will be exceptionally slippery, increasing the risk of falls near rocky sections. Combined with poor visibility, extreme caution is required for foot placement to prevent accidents. Even on the New Route (Shin-do) ridge, views of the Sea of Okhotsk are unlikely due to the fog.

With a felt temperature of 0°C, a layering system is essential: a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable outer jacket. Gloves and a knit hat should also be carried, allowing for frequent adjustments to manage body temperature during activity. Essential gear includes full rainwear and waterproof hiking boots. Given the wet and potentially muddy ground, carrying microspikes is recommended for added traction on slippery sections. The risk of lightning is low, but gusts exceeding 10 m/s are possible, requiring caution on exposed ridge lines. Hypothermia remains a constant risk due to persistent high humidity, low temperatures, and poor visibility; maintain vigilance against sweat-induced chilling and temperature drops during breaks, and carefully assess the suitability of continued activity.

Cloudy skies will continue into the evening, with temperatures dropping to below 2°C. If your activity extends into the late hours, a headlamp and additional warm layers are necessary. As this is a brown bear habitat, avoid solo travel and make noise to signal your presence.
