Conditions generally good — Conduct standard mountain safety measures
Today's Mt. Fuji summit conditions at 07:15 are cloudy with a temperature of -2.3℃, feeling like -5.3℃. Sub-zero temperatures are expected to persist throughout the day, a significant contrast to the 13.1℃ recorded at the mountain's base.
Winds, currently light at 0.67m/s, are forecast to strengthen, with gusts reaching 8.5m/s by noon and 9.6m/s by 15:00. These strong gusts will be particularly impactful on the exposed slopes above the tree line, such as the upper sections of the Yoshida Trail and Fujinomiya Trail, where there is no natural shelter. Visibility is excellent at over 20km, but the increasing wind will further lower the effective temperature.
There is currently no snow cover, and the ground is dry. However, light snowfall is anticipated from midnight, intensifying to moderate snow by 03:00 on the 15th, with approximately 1cm of accumulation. This could make the volcanic gravel slopes wet and potentially covered with a thin layer of snow in places. For daytime conditions, expect dry ground but be aware of dust stirred up by the wind.
Given the persistent sub-zero perceived temperatures, a moisture-wicking base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a windproof and waterproof shell jacket are essential. Gloves and a warm hat are also critical. Crampons or microspikes are not required, but rain gear (separate top and bottom) should be carried for both weather protection and added warmth. A headlamp is mandatory for any potential night activity. The risk of thunderstorms is low, but be cautious of hypothermia due to strong daytime gusts. Consider the risk of altitude sickness and plan your ascent accordingly. An early start and finish are recommended due to the anticipated overnight snowfall and temperature drop. The summit crater rim (O-hachi-meguri) will also be exposed to strong winds, requiring careful attention to weather shifts.

Mountain Guide
概要 Overview
Features
Best Season
Main Routes
Cautions
Access
