There is a significant 9.4-degree Celsius temperature difference between the summit and the base, ensuring a cool alpine environment all day.

Ground conditions are predominantly dry due to no precipitation and no snow cover. However, shaded gullies or early morning trails might be damp. Hikers undertaking the Ohatsuri circuit around the Yakushidake crater must be vigilant for loose rocks along the crater rim, taking extreme care with each step.

Adequate layering is essential. Wear a wicking base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and always carry a windproof and waterproof outer shell.
