Currently, Mount Ibuki summit experiences strong drizzle with a temperature of 9.9°C and a feels-like temperature of 9.3°C. The humidity is 99%, leading to wet conditions. Drizzle is expected to continue until around 9 AM, followed by a transition to cloudy then clear skies with no further precipitation. The temperature difference from the base is significant at 7.4°C, keeping the summit cool.
Due to recent precipitation and high humidity, ground conditions are expected to be wet to muddy. Particular caution is advised on the steep sections of the Omote Tozando (main climbing route), where slippery spots will be prevalent. While climbing is feasible today, be highly vigilant regarding the morning drizzle and wet terrain.
The risk of hypothermia is elevated with feels-like temperatures around 9°C and wet clothing. Essential layering includes a quick-drying synthetic or merino wool base layer, a thin fleece mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable rain jacket and pants as an outer layer. The summit area is prone to sudden fog, which can rapidly reduce visibility and increase the risk of getting lost. Although current visibility is 4.2km, remain alert for changing conditions.
Weather is expected to improve in the afternoon, with potential for clear skies by evening. No precipitation is forecasted overnight, but temperatures will drop back to around 10°C, so ensure adequate cold weather gear if staying out after sunset. Risks of lightning and strong winds are low.
