Mount Poroshiri starts with clear skies this morning, but gusts exceeding 20m/s are expected at the summit from 09:00. The windchill will remain below freezing. Light drizzle is forecast from noon, continuing until around 15:00 with a 30% precipitation probability. There is a significant temperature difference between the summit and the base, with the summit still exhibiting winter conditions.

This wind and rain will impact river crossings on the Hira-gawa course. While not directly leading to rapid flooding, the water level may rise, increasing the risk of slipping. Ridge lines are exposed rock. The ground will be wet and muddy due to the drizzle. Residual snow is likely limited to higher elevations such as the cirque terrain, so crampons or microspikes are not necessary.

Layering should include a quick-drying base, a mid-layer such as fleece for insulation, and an essential windproof and waterproof hard shell. Waterproof gloves and additional warm clothing are also necessary. As this is a bear-dense area, bear bells and spray are mandatory. In conditions with gusts over 20m/s, continuing activity can become difficult. There is a serious risk of losing balance and falling, as well as hypothermia. Avoid pushing limits and be prepared to turn back.

The drizzle is expected to cease by evening, with clear skies overnight, but temperatures will drop to near 0°C. Adequate cold weather gear is essential for those planning night activities or staying at the Poroshiri Hut.
