Asahidake summit area will remain mostly cloudy today, with a possibility of light drizzle in the afternoon. Although temperatures are expected to rise to 11.5°C during the day, the perceived temperature at 1595m elevation will feel around 10°C at its warmest. The 102cm snowpack will be significantly softened, creating slushy snow and muddy trail conditions. Waterproof hiking boots and gaiters are essential.

The route from Asahidake Ropeway Sugatami Station to the summit still has extensive residual snow. As the snowmelt progresses, the terrain around the volcanic vents (Jigokudani) will become unstable. Absolutely do not approach the gas and hot water vents. Areas with thin snow pose a risk of breaking through, requiring cautious movement.

There is no sign of lightning, and maximum daytime gusts are weak at 6.2m/s, indicating a low risk of strong winds. However, light drizzle can lower the perceived temperature, and the risk of hypothermia is not negligible. A wicking base layer, a mid-layer such as fleece, and a waterproof/breathable outer shell are mandatory. Carry gloves and a hat and wear them promptly to prevent heat loss. Current visibility is 1.4km and may worsen with drizzle or fog, so navigate carefully to avoid getting lost.

Temperatures will drop to around 4°C from evening into night, with light drizzle expected to continue. Avoid any activity after sunset.
