As of 07:00 this morning, Mount Iwate summit is cloudy with a temperature of -1.7°C, feeling like -6°C. The humidity is extremely high at 97%. Strong snow is forecast for 09:00, followed by intermittent light drizzle or drizzle throughout the afternoon. Temperatures will hover around 0°C, making the ground wet, with scattered patches of thin snow or ice in places. Muddy sections will also be present.

Gusts will reach around 12m/s during the day. As an isolated peak, Mount Iwate is highly exposed to wind above the tree line. Particularly on exposed areas like the rim of Yakushidake Crater, the combination of wet clothing and wind presents a very high risk of hypothermia. Poor visibility will further complicate navigation, requiring extra caution regarding loose rocks along the crater rim.

Warm and waterproof layering is essential. Wear a quick-drying base layer of merino wool or synthetic, a mid-layer of thick fleece or a light down jacket, and a waterproof-breathable hard-shell jacket and pants as an outer layer. Protect exposed areas with waterproof and insulated gloves, a warm hat, and a balaclava. For footwear, waterproof hiking boots are necessary, and microspikes should be carried for icy or thinly snow-covered sections.

Precipitation is expected to subside from late afternoon into the evening, but temperatures will remain low. Navigating under these conditions requires careful judgment even for experienced climbers. Inexperienced individuals or those without proper gear should refrain from entering the mountain.
