Mount Meakan summit area is currently cloudy with less than 1 kilometer visibility, a temperature of -0.4°C, and a feels-like temperature of -4.6°C as of 6:45 AM. Hikers must be prepared for low temperatures and poor visibility from the outset. While temperatures are expected to hover around 0°C in the morning and rise to 5-8°C in the afternoon, wind chill at the summit remains a concern.

Ground conditions are clear of snow. With rising daytime temperatures, trails will likely become wet and muddy. On common routes like the Onneto Course, there is a risk of slipping on scree, especially under poor visibility. Waterproof hiking boots and rain gear are essential, though crampons are not necessary. Exercise caution on slippery sections.

As an active volcano, Mount Meakan poses a risk of acute sulfur gas poisoning around the crater lakes (Akanuma and Aonuma) and fumarolic areas. Today's wind direction will shift from northerly in the morning to southwesterly and then southeasterly in the afternoon. Poor visibility makes it difficult to avoid gas accumulation zones. Pay close attention to wind shifts and refrain from approaching active fumaroles. Although summit gusts, peaking at 9.9m/s in the morning, are not severe enough to halt activity, they contribute to hypothermia risk. Carry a waterproof breathable outer layer, along with spare fleece or a light down jacket, to maintain body warmth through careful layering.

Light drizzle is forecast around 6 PM, with temperatures dropping back below freezing overnight. Avoid activity after sunset.
