Today on Mt. Yari, expect clear skies and light winds, offering good conditions for climbing. The summit currently registers 1.5°C with a feel of -2.4°C, a significant 9.1°C colder than the base. While temperatures will rise to 7°C during the day, a sharp 7°C drop is forecasted overnight. Prepare for sudden temperature changes by carrying extra insulation layers from the outset.

Snow depth is 136cm. The snow will soften during the day due to rising temperatures but will refreeze overnight. Especially on the exposed rocky sections like the summit's chain and ladder routes (Ho-saki no kusariba), expect a mix of residual snow and icy patches. Crampons and an ice axe are essential; microspikes are insufficient, and the risk of slipping and falling is high. Adjust clothing frequently during your ascent to regulate body temperature.

For layering, choose moisture-wicking base layers, fleece or light down for mid-layers, and a waterproof-breathable shell as an outer layer. Risks of thunderstorms and strong winds are low. However, pay close attention to rockfall and slippage directly below the summit. While visibility is excellent under clear skies, the rocky ridges in late spring snow always present inherent dangers, so make early decisions to turn back if conditions warrant.
