Today on Tokachidake, the morning started cloudy but is expected to clear up towards midday. At 6:45 AM, the summit temperature was 1.3°C, feeling like -2.4°C. With an 8.6°C difference from the base, conditions will feel significantly colder as you ascend. Temperatures are forecast to rise to 5.3°C during the day, which will soften the remaining snow.

Current snow depth is 20cm. Routes like the Bogakudai Course, particularly above the treeline, will present a mixed condition of residual snow and exposed rock. While the snow will soften with rising daytime temperatures, expect hard, frozen sections from overnight refreezing. Carrying microspikes or light crampons is advisable for safety.

Gusts are forecast to reach 13.8m/s around noon. On exposed ridges above the treeline, be wary of strong winds that can cause loss of balance and a rapid drop in perceived temperature. Layering is crucial: a wicking base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a windproof, waterproof shell are essential. Gloves, a hat, and a neck warmer are also required. Without adequate insulation, there is a high risk of hypothermia.

Temperatures will drop to 0.4°C by 6 PM and -1.6°C by 9 PM. Plan your descent to be off the mountain before nightfall, avoiding any nighttime activity.
