Current conditions at Mt. Ontake summit are clear with excellent visibility exceeding 20km. The temperature is 1°C, feeling like -3°C. There is no snow cover, and the white volcanic scree slopes above the treeline are dry. Care must be taken on exposed rocky sections to prevent slips and falls. A significant temperature difference of approximately 9.5°C exists between the summit and the base, necessitating preparation for the colder alpine environment.

For daytime activities, a quick-drying long-sleeve base layer, a thin fleece or softshell as a mid-layer, and a windproof and waterproof outer jacket are essential. Carrying a light down vest for warmth during breaks is also advisable. When heading towards Kengamine, wearing a helmet is strongly recommended due to Mt. Ontake being an active volcano. Always remain vigilant, remembering the lessons from the 2014 eruption disaster.

Forecasts indicate temperatures will drop to -5.3°C overnight. While wind speeds are not expected to be extreme, with gusts up to around 12.1m/s, they can further reduce the perceived temperature, increasing the risk of hypothermia during periods of inactivity. For any post-sunset activity, a headlamp is mandatory, and thorough cold weather protection is crucial.
