As of 7 AM, the summit of Mt. Asahidake is mostly clear with a temperature of 14.4°C and a gentle wind speed of 1.62 m/s. Visibility is excellent at over 20 km, making for comfortable conditions this morning. The temperature difference from the base is approximately 2.3°C, indicating the characteristic coolness of higher altitudes.
However, the weather is expected to change in the afternoon. Strong drizzle is forecast for noon, transitioning to light drizzle by 3 PM. While temperatures will remain in the mid-15s, getting wet from the drizzle can drop the perceived temperature into the single digits. Specifically, around Sugatami-no-ike (Mirror Pond) with its alpine plant communities and the Jigokudani (Hell Valley) fumarole area, trails will become wet and muddy, increasing the risk of slipping. Waterproof hiking boots and trekking poles will be beneficial.
For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a mid-layer such as a light fleece, and a waterproof-breathable rain suit are essential. Always carry an insulating layer like a lightweight down jacket or synthetic insulated jacket for breaks or unexpected stops. Gusts are not expected to exceed 8.2 m/s, which should not impede movement, but reduced visibility due to drizzle requires caution. While the risk of lightning is low, hypothermia is a concern; avoid prolonged stops when wet.
Light drizzle is expected to continue into early tomorrow morning. Even for day trips, it is advisable to begin descent early in the afternoon, exercising caution for any activities extending into the evening.

Features
Best Season
Main Routes
Cautions
