The summit area of Kuju Mountains is currently enveloped in fog with visibility less than 1km, under cloudy skies. The temperature is 16.6℃, feeling like 17.3℃, which is 4.7℃ lower than the base. While the morning may see thin clouds, light drizzle is expected to begin around noon, transitioning to light rain in the afternoon. Particularly from 3 PM onwards, with a 98% chance of precipitation, be prepared to get thoroughly wet.

The ground is already damp and will become muddy as the rain progresses into the afternoon. Exposed rocky sections will be slippery, demanding careful foot placement. Today, the Kuju Mountains pose a high risk of getting lost in the fog. Especially on the ridge route from Makinoto Pass towards Mt. Kuju, where poor visibility will persist, carrying a map, compass, and GPS, along with frequent position checks, is crucial.

Although the felt temperature will hover around 17℃, getting wet from the rain can rapidly deplete body heat. Essential layering includes a lightweight base layer, a quick-drying mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable outer shell (rain gear, top and bottom). While the risk of lightning and strong winds is low, the risk of hypothermia increases significantly due to the wet conditions. During your activity, maintain hydration and regulate body temperature diligently. Avoid pushing your limits. Fog is likely to linger into the evening, so carry a headlamp if planning to be out after dark.
