Today on Mount Kisokoma, the morning is expected to be relatively calm with partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. However, the weather is projected to deteriorate from noon onwards, with drizzle anticipated in the afternoon.
As of 7:30 AM, the summit conditions are 5.2℃ with a felt temperature of 3.4℃, 98% humidity, and partly cloudy skies. The temperature difference from the base is a significant -8.7℃, emphasizing the need to be aware of elevation-related temperature changes. While the temperature will rise to 9.6℃ by noon, by 3:00 PM, drizzle is expected with an 8.8℃ temperature and a 98% chance of 0.8mm precipitation. This drizzle combined with high humidity will make the felt temperature feel even lower.
There is no snow cover, and the ground consists of exposed rock ridges. However, the afternoon drizzle will make the terrain wet and muddy, causing rocks to become slippery. The steep slopes of Hacchozaka, in particular, will pose an increased risk of slipping due to wet loose stones and soil. The rock climbing sections of Mt. Hokendake will also become more challenging when wet, requiring careful judgment or passage during the early morning hours.
For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or similar insulating mid-layer, and waterproof-breathable rainwear (jacket and pants) are essential. Gloves and a hat should also be carried. While wind speeds are generally moderate (gusts up to 7.7m/s), the high humidity and risk of getting wet from drizzle increase the risk of hypothermia. Pay close attention to body temperature during breaks, and manage your warmth by staying dry and adjusting layers frequently. Given the increased risks of poor visibility and getting wet in the afternoon, it is strongly recommended to complete the most challenging sections during the stable morning period and plan for an early start and descent.
