Mount Fuji summit currently experiences 0.6 degrees Celsius with 99% humidity and visibility under 1 kilometer, engulfed in dense fog. Light drizzle persists, with temperatures expected to hover around 1 degree Celsius throughout the day. While winds are not strong, the combination of near-freezing temperatures and high humidity significantly elevates the risk of hypothermia, especially if clothing becomes wet. On exposed slopes above the tree line, where there is no shelter, wind chill will be a direct factor, making proper insulation crucial. The steep ascents of volcanic scree on routes like Yoshida Trail and Fujinomiya Trail will be very slippery due to the drizzle, increasing the risk of falls and rolling stones.
The perceived temperature will remain around zero degrees Celsius during the day, dropping below freezing with gusts. Essential layering includes a wicking base layer (synthetic or wool), a fleece mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable hard shell jacket and pants. Waterproof gloves and a warm hat are also indispensable. Carry a lightweight down jacket for breaks and potential night activity. The ground is wet and muddy, requiring sturdy, non-slip hiking boots. Crampons or microspikes are not needed, but exercise extreme caution against slipping.
Precipitation is expected to cease by evening, with conditions improving to partly cloudy or mostly clear. Visibility should improve, but temperatures will drop to between -0.8 and -2.3 degrees Celsius overnight, well below freezing. Preparation for colder conditions at night is essential. Although no significant alerts were detected by automated risk assessment, weather on an isolated peak like Mount Fuji can change rapidly. Be aware that symptoms of high-altitude sickness and early hypothermia can overlap; if you feel any unusual symptoms, make an immediate decision to descend.

Mountain Guide
概要 Overview
Features
Best Season
Main Routes
Cautions
Access
