Mount Asahidake is experiencing a clear and calm morning. The summit (1595m) currently reports 11.1℃ with a feels-like temperature of 9℃, and a gentle breeze of 2.1m/s. The base (1107m) is 14.2℃, clearly showing the temperature drop with elevation. Although it will become partly cloudy during the day, there is no rain expected, and visibility remains excellent at over 20km.
For daytime activities, the summit temperature is forecast to rise to 14.3℃ around noon, but gusts could reach up to 10.7m/s. Considering a 1℃ drop in feels-like temperature for every 1m/s of wind speed, the feels-like temperature could drop to around 4℃ during strong gusts. Essential layering includes a wicking base layer, a thin fleece for a mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable shell for both wind and rain protection. A light insulating layer is also crucial for breaks. The ground is dry with no snow, allowing for easy hiking. Crampons or microspikes are not needed, but rain gear for wind and cold protection is mandatory.
While the risk of thunderstorms is low, wind conditions require attention. The route from Sugatami Station to the summit is largely exposed, making hikers susceptible to gusts. Especially around the volcanic vents (Jigokudani), gas may drift depending on wind direction, so if you feel unwell, move away quickly. Hypothermia risk is low today, but remember Asahidake can be cold even in summer. Layer appropriately to prevent sweat chilling. Temperatures will drop to the 8℃ range after sunset, so it is advisable to conclude your activities before dark.

Mountain Guide
概要 Overview
Features
Best Season
Main Routes
