Hakkoda-san summit currently experiences light overcast skies with a perceived temperature of 3.9°C. Visibility is less than 1km, indicating dense fog in wetland areas. Light rain is forecast to begin around noon, turning into drizzle by 3 PM. While temperatures at the summit will range from 5.5°C to 8.5°C today, the combination of rain and high humidity will make the perceived temperature feel significantly lower.

The ground is free of snow and will be wet to muddy due to precipitation and high humidity. Navigating wetland routes, particularly from Tamoyachidake towards Odake, carries a high risk of getting lost in the dense fog. Constant vigilance with a compass and GPS is crucial for confirming your current position. Exercise caution around Jigokunuma due to volcanic gases and strictly avoid any restricted access areas.

For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a mid-layer such as fleece, and a waterproof-breathable rain shell are essential. The rain gear will also serve as vital insulation against the cold. Although wind speeds are low, there is a moderate risk of hypothermia due to getting wet. Keep breaks short during activity and change out of wet clothing promptly. Conditions are expected to improve in the evening, but temperatures will drop back to around 5°C.
