The summit currently enjoys clear skies at 7:00 AM, with a temperature of 10.7℃ and a felt temperature of 9.8℃. Visibility is excellent, exceeding 20km. However, this clear weather will be short-lived. Light drizzle is expected to begin around 9:00 AM, intensifying to strong drizzle by noon. Drizzle will persist throughout the afternoon, with temperatures gradually dropping towards evening. The temperature difference between the summit and the base is 3.1℃, making the summit feel cooler throughout the day.

For layering, wear a quick-drying base layer and a light fleece or synthetic jacket as a mid-layer. Always carry a waterproof-breathable outer shell for breaks or in case winds pick up. The combination of drizzle and high humidity increases the risk of hypothermia if you get wet. Ground conditions will be wet to muddy all day. Specifically, the wooden boardwalks around the alpine plant communities and rocky areas near the Jigokudani (Hell Valley) fumaroles on the route from Sugatami Station to the summit will be slippery. Waterproof hiking boots are essential.

While winds are generally light, there is a possibility of volcanic gas lingering from the fumaroles. As visibility deteriorates with the afternoon drizzle, it may become harder to perceive the gas, requiring extra caution. The risk of lightning and strong winds is low, but there will be chilly periods even during the day. Maintain energy with regular hydration and snacks, and take precautions to stay dry.
