Humidity is at 95%, and light drizzle is forecast around 9 AM. Throughout the day, summit temperatures will hover between 5 and 8 degrees Celsius, but high humidity and wind will make it feel colder. Essential layering includes a wicking synthetic base layer, a light fleece mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable outer shell to manage both perspiration and potential rain.

Ground conditions are generally wet, with muddy sections expected, especially in forested areas and along streams. Exposed sections, such as the upper Hirafu ski slopes, will also be slippery. Crampons or microspikes are not required, but sturdy hiking boots with good grip are recommended. A full set of waterproof rain gear is essential.

While the risk of lightning is low, wind gusts of 10.6 meters per second have been observed at the summit, with similar gusts of 9.5 meters per second forecast for the day. Caution is advised on exposed ridges, particularly towards Gate 4, where strong gusts could cause loss of balance. Hypothermia risk is primarily due to wetness rather than extreme cold. Even with moderate temperatures, damp clothing from drizzle or sweat can rapidly reduce body temperature. Constant adjustment of layers and diligent waterproofing are crucial. Trekking is feasible, provided full attention is given to wet weather preparedness and thermal management.
