Mount Iwate summit is currently mostly clear with a temperature of 4.6°C, feeling like 1.8°C. There is a significant temperature difference of nearly 10°C compared to the base. The day will mostly remain partly cloudy to clear, but westerly winds are expected to strengthen in the afternoon. Gusts are forecast to reach 14.3 m/s by 12:00 and 15.3 m/s by 15:00.

Above the tree line, strong westerly winds will persist throughout the day, posing a risk of losing balance due to sudden gusts, especially around the Yakushidake Crater rim and during the Obachi-meguri circuit. Loose rocks are also prevalent along the crater rim, requiring careful footing. The daytime feels-like temperature will hover around 2-3°C, necessitating a fast-drying base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a windproof and waterproof outer shell. Gloves and a hat are also essential.

According to the automated risk assessment, a temperature drop of 6°C is expected during the forecast period. Temperatures will sharply decline in the evening, reaching below freezing overnight, increasing the risk of hypothermia. Be prepared for sudden changes during your activity by carrying an extra insulating layer from the outset. Early decision-making to turn back is crucial. There is no snow cover, and the ground is dry, though some wet areas may exist in shaded or damp spots.
