地面は全体的にドライだが、オンネトーコースなど日陰や湿気の多い場所では泥濘が残る可能性もある。火山性のザレ場も多く、足元には十分な注意が必要だ。軽アイゼンやチェーンスパイクは不要。
本日は東南東の風が終日継続する予報のため、噴気孔群からの硫黄ガスは主に風下側へと流れる。火口湖周辺では風向きを常に意識し、硫黄ガスを吸い込まないよう行動すること。
15時以降は急激な気温低下が見込まれ、18時には3.9℃、翌早朝には氷点下に達する。体感温度はさらに低くなるため、ベースレイヤーに加え、中厚手のフリースと防風シェル、さらに保温性の高いダウンジャケットを携行すること。低体温症のリスクが高まるため、出発前から防寒レイヤーを一枚多めに携行し、早めの行動と迅速な引き返し判断を心がけたい。
