Mount Iwate summit is clear. As of 7:45 AM, the temperature is 3.8 degrees Celsius, with a feels-like temperature of -0.1 degrees Celsius. There is a temperature difference of over 10 degrees Celsius compared to the base. Clear skies will persist throughout the day, with temperatures hovering around 4-5 degrees Celsius. However, strong gusts are expected all day, potentially exceeding 20 m/s, especially after noon. There is no snow cover, and the ground is primarily exposed rock, but high humidity suggests some damp areas in shaded spots or depressions.

As an isolated peak, Mount Iwate's exposed ridges above the tree line, particularly around the Yakushidake Crater rim and the Ohachi-meguri route, will be significantly affected by these strong winds. The crater rim is prone to loose rocks, and powerful gusts increase the risk of losing balance, leading to falls or slips. Extreme caution is required during ascent and traverse.

Despite the relatively mild air temperature, the strong winds will drastically lower the feels-like temperature, making hypothermia a serious concern. Essential gear includes a moisture-wicking base layer, a fleece mid-layer, and a windproof hard shell outer layer. Carrying an insulating layer like a down jacket for breaks is also crucial. Gloves and a warm hat are indispensable.

The risk of thunderstorms is low. Visibility is good, but navigating in strong winds always entails hazards. Temperatures will drop further to 1-2 degrees Celsius after sunset. Ensure adequate cold weather gear and a conservative travel plan.
