Today at Mt. Meakan, conditions will transition from cloudy to light drizzle throughout the day. As of 7:45 AM, the summit temperature is 10.1°C, feeling like 8.6°C. Winds are light, but light drizzle will begin later in the morning, making trails wet and muddy. Particular caution is advised on the scree sections of the Onneto Course to prevent slips and falls.

As an active volcano, Mt. Meakan presents a risk of volcanic gas accumulation, especially near the crater lakes of Akanuma and Aonuma, and the fumarole areas, due to today's SSE to SE wind direction. If you detect any sulfurous odor, move quickly upwind to avoid gas exposure. Visibility is currently 7.5km but is expected to gradually deteriorate with the onset of drizzle.

For layering, a moisture-wicking base layer, a light fleece or wool mid-layer, and waterproof and windproof rainwear (jacket and pants) are essential. Maximum gusts during the day are forecast to be 8.8m/s, so strong wind risk is low. There are no signs of thunderstorms.

Temperatures will drop after 3 PM, and precipitation will increase, leading to rough weather overnight with gusts exceeding 12m/s. While daytime activities are possible, it is strongly recommended to start your descent by 3 PM at the latest to ensure a safe return. Nighttime climbing is not advised due to increased risks of hypothermia and poor visibility.
