The Kuju Mountains are currently experiencing a summit temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, with a perceived temperature of 8.9 degrees Celsius. Humidity remains at 99 percent, and visibility is less than 1 kilometer. A temperature difference of approximately 4.7 degrees Celsius exists between the summit and the base. Light drizzle is expected to begin this morning, intensifying into steady drizzle by midday. Precipitation will gradually increase into the evening, turning into rain overnight. Winds from the southeast will be around 4.5 meters per second, with gusts reaching 10 to 12 meters per second during the day.

The perceived temperature throughout the day will hover around 4 to 5 degrees Celsius. Given the high humidity and continuous drizzle, there is a very high risk of hypothermia as the body can rapidly lose heat when wet. A quick-drying synthetic or merino wool base layer, a fleece or thin synthetic insulation mid-layer, and a full waterproof rain suit are essential. Gloves should also be carried to prevent hands from getting cold and wet. Ground conditions will shift from wet to muddy, and rocky areas will be slippery.

For those attempting routes such as the Makinoto Pass course towards Mount Nakadake or Mount Kuju, there is a significant risk of getting lost due to poor visibility. Current visibility is already below 1 kilometer, and it is likely to worsen with ongoing drizzle. It is crucial to carry a map, compass, and GPS, constantly verifying your position. These conditions are challenging for inexperienced hikers. Avoid any unnecessary risks, and be prepared to turn back if conditions deteriorate.
