As of 7 AM, Mount Meakan summit is cloudy with a temperature of 1.4°C, feeling like -2.1°C due to the wind chill. There is approximately a 5°C temperature difference from the base. The day is expected to transition to partly cloudy, with temperatures gradually rising to 9.1°C by noon. Winds will shift from south-southwest to south, with gusts potentially reaching up to 12 m/s during the day, particularly on exposed ridgelines.

With no snow cover and no precipitation forecasted, ground conditions will generally be damp. Hikers ascending via the Onneto Course or other routes should be cautious of slippery sections caused by wet soil and fallen leaves, especially within the forested areas where humidity remains high. The absence of ice or significant mud means standard hiking boots are sufficient, with no need for microspikes or crampons.

As an active volcano, Mount Meakan's fumarole areas present a risk of sulfur gas exposure. Near the crater lakes, Akanuma and Aonuma, it is crucial to constantly monitor the wind direction and avoid lingering downwind from the vents. Carrying a wet towel or mask is strongly recommended as a precaution against acute sulfur gas poisoning, a specific risk on this mountain. On scree slopes, watch for loose rocks and proceed with caution.

For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or lightweight down mid-layer, and a windproof, waterproof shell are essential. While active, you may feel warm, but perceived temperatures can drop sharply on ridges or during breaks. Frequent adjustment of layers, along with gloves and a warm hat, is vital to prevent hypothermia. Thunderstorm risk is low. Winds are expected to strengthen further overnight, making a descent before sunset imperative for safety.
