Conditions generally good — Conduct standard mountain safety measures
Mount Miyanoura summit is mostly clear at 7:30 AM, with a temperature of 8 degrees Celsius and a felt temperature of 5.7 degrees Celsius. Winds are light, but gusts up to 11.7 meters per second have been observed. At the Yodogawa Trailhead, the base camp, it is partly cloudy with a temperature of 11.9 degrees Celsius. There is approximately a 4-degree Celsius temperature difference between the summit and the trailhead, necessitating equipment adjustments for the elevation change.
Clear skies are expected to persist throughout the day, with the summit temperature rising to 11.3 degrees Celsius by noon. Winds will remain mild, with gusts not exceeding approximately 12.6 meters per second. Visibility is excellent, promising superb views of the World Heritage landscape from Mount Miyanoura. Precipitation is forecast at zero millimeters for the entire day, indicating a very low risk of thunderstorms or sudden flash floods in streams, a typical concern in this extremely rainy region.
Ground conditions are generally dry due to the lack of precipitation. However, given that Mount Miyanoura is a region with exceptionally high annual rainfall, wet patches and muddy sections may still be present, particularly around the Hananoego Wetlands and along stream banks or in shaded areas. Exercise caution with footing to prevent falls. Essential gear includes a quick-drying base layer, a mid-layer such as fleece, and a windproof and waterproof outer shell, which is crucial in this high-precipitation environment. The risk of hypothermia can be mitigated with appropriate layering while moving, but the body can cool quickly during stops. Crampons or microspikes are not required.
Clear skies will continue into the evening and night, but temperatures will drop to around 7 degrees Celsius. Make the most of the daytime clear weather and maintain a well-planned itinerary.
