Shiribetsu-dake summit is currently cloudy with a temperature of 1.7°C, feeling like -0.8°C. The mountain base experiences light drizzle at 13.1°C. Summit temperatures will remain above freezing during the day, but high humidity and wet conditions will lower the perceived temperature. There is a snow depth of 48cm, and the daytime positive temperatures will accelerate snowmelt, leading to wet and muddy ground conditions. Light crampons or microspikes are recommended for higher elevations due to remaining snowpack.

While today's precipitation is light, heavy rain is forecast for 9 PM, turning to snow by midnight, with a 100% chance of precipitation. This precipitation combined with snowmelt will significantly increase water levels in rivers, especially along the Ekihiragawa Course. With over 20 river crossings, increased water levels can quickly make crossings impassable. Extreme caution is advised for river conditions from tonight into tomorrow morning, and entry to the mountain today is not recommended given the high risk of impassable river crossings tomorrow. Waterproof and breathable shell layers are essential, and river shoes should be prepared for crossings.
