As of 7 AM, Horoshiridake summit is partly cloudy with a temperature of -0.4°C, feeling like -7.3°C. Gusts of up to 25.9 m/s are prevalent. The mountain base is mostly clear at 11.4°C, but the temperature difference is significant at -11.8°C. Although fair weather is forecast for the day, gusts are expected to reach up to 26.6 m/s near the summit. This strong wind will persist until around 3 PM. Due to the risk of being blown away, especially in the Karu topography and exposed ridges near the summit, minimize time on ridges and maintain a low stance. Consider aborting the ascent due to the severe wind conditions.

Snow depth is 65 cm. While the snow surface will soften to corn snow during the day due to rising temperatures, it will freeze overnight as temperatures drop below zero, forming ice. For the Nukabiragawa Course, despite no precipitation, snowmelt from rising temperatures will increase water levels in stream crossings, requiring careful attention to footing. Light crampons or microspikes and an ice axe are essential for navigating the remaining snow and potential ice. For stream crossings, consider waterproof outerwear, insulating layers that retain warmth when wet, and river shoes. Hypothermia risk is high due to low perceived temperatures and strong winds. A wicking base layer, mid-layer such as fleece, and waterproof breathable outer shell (top and bottom) are mandatory. Carry an extra down jacket and over-mittens for comprehensive cold protection. Lightning risk is low. Winds will slightly diminish in the evening, but be mindful of freezing snow surfaces due to falling temperatures, and plan to conclude your activities early in the day.
