Mt. Iwate summit is experiencing clear skies. The current temperature is 1.8 degrees Celsius, but the wind chill makes it feel like -2.7 degrees Celsius. Wind speed is 3.26 m/s with gusts reaching 16.7 m/s. Above the tree line, hikers will be exposed to strong winds. Particular caution is advised for gusty conditions along the rim of the Yakushidake Crater and on the Ohachi-meguri loop trail. There is a significant temperature difference of over 10 degrees Celsius between the summit and the base, so the perceived temperature will drop considerably with altitude.

The ground is dry with no precipitation or snow cover, meaning exposed rock ridges are the predominant surface. However, shaded or damp areas may experience frost due to nighttime cooling. Crampons or microspikes are not required, but loose rocks are common around the crater rim, necessitating careful footing.

Clear skies are expected to continue through the night, with temperatures hovering around 0 degrees Celsius. While winds may slightly diminish, gusts between 12-14 m/s are anticipated. This increases the risk of hypothermia on exposed ridges. Essential cold weather gear includes a quick-drying base layer, a thick fleece or light down mid-layer, and a windproof and waterproof hard-shell outer layer. Gloves, a hat, and windproof pants are also necessary. Visibility is excellent, but prolonged exposure on the ridges during these hours should be avoided.
