Mount Shari will experience cloudy skies with intermittent light drizzle throughout the day. The summit's wind chill temperature is currently 4.1 degrees Celsius, and it will only rise to around 10 degrees Celsius during the day. High humidity at 93% will make the perceived temperature feel lower than the actual reading. Particularly on the Old Route, which features a series of waterfalls as part of the Kiyosato-so loop route, wet rocks and streambeds will be extremely slippery, demanding careful foot placement. Light drizzle is expected in the afternoon, and visibility will remain poor at around 1.1 kilometers.
There is a significant risk of hypothermia due to perspiration during activity, low ambient temperatures, high humidity, and light drizzle. It is crucial to wear a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating fleece or light down jacket as a mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable rain jacket and pants as an outer layer. Prompt measures to prevent heat loss, especially during breaks or in windy areas, are essential as getting wet can rapidly reduce body temperature.
While there is low risk of lightning or strong winds today, the persistent poor visibility means that views of the Okhotsk Sea are unlikely. Be cautious of losing your way due to fog on the New Route's ridge trail. Although stream levels are not expected to rise rapidly due to the light rain, the risk of slipping and falling on the Old Route is elevated, so avoid attempting passage if conditions feel unsafe. Plan for an early descent and avoid hiking after sunset.
Light drizzle is also forecast for the evening and night, with temperatures dropping further. The significant temperature difference between the summit and the base will persist. The trails will remain wet to muddy all day, making waterproof hiking boots essential. While microspikes are not necessary, exercise extreme caution on wet rocks and tree roots to prevent falls and injuries.
