As of 7:00 AM, Mt. Iwate summit is cloudy with visibility restricted to less than 1km. The summit temperature is a cool 13.7℃, contrasting sharply with the 23.4℃ at the base. Humidity is high at 95%, and while the sustained wind is light, gusts have reached 8m/s. Conditions are expected to shift to partly cloudy through the day, but significant improvement in visibility is unlikely. Wind chill could drop the felt temperature to between 5℃ and 8℃ during gusts, posing a moderate risk of hypothermia.

The ground consists mainly of exposed rock, but high humidity makes surfaces generally damp. Around the Yakushidake crater and the "Ohatsumeguri" rim trail, poor visibility combined with loose rocks increases the risk of falls. Above the treeline, strong gusts could cause loss of balance and further reduce felt temperatures. Essential gear includes waterproof breathable outer layers, a fleece or similar mid-layer, gloves, and a hat. For navigation in poor visibility, a map, compass, and GPS are crucial.

The risk of lightning is low. While gusts up to 9.9m/s are not expected to severely impede movement, be mindful of the significant drop in felt temperature. Continuously monitor visibility and temperature changes during your ascent and descend. As evening approaches, clearer skies and lighter winds are anticipated, but temperatures will drop to around 12℃, necessitating continued warm clothing.
