The summit of Mt. Tokachidake is currently 11.1℃, feeling like 9.6℃. This is 7.6℃ colder than the 18.7℃ observed at the base. Light drizzle is expected throughout the day, with temperatures hovering around 11-12℃. However, high humidity and getting wet will significantly lower the perceived temperature. Essential layering includes a quick-drying base layer, a fleece mid-layer, and waterproof-breathable rain gear (jacket and pants). Carry gloves and a hat to prevent hypothermia from getting wet.

The ground is wet to muddy due to the drizzle. Exposed rock ridges are slippery. Particular caution is advised on the ridge leading from Bogakudai Course towards Taisho Crater, where wet rocks pose a slip hazard. Current visibility is poor at 1.3km, and with continuous drizzle throughout the day, improvement is not expected. Around the Taisho Crater and Shin Funka-ko (New Crater), be extremely cautious due to poor visibility and potentially high concentrations of volcanic gas. Constantly verify your location with a map, compass, and GPS to avoid losing the trail or getting lost.

The risk of thunderstorms is low. While winds are calm during the day, gusts exceeding 16m/s are forecasted from evening into early morning. Travel above the tree line becomes increasingly dangerous under such conditions. Adhere strictly to a safe descent before sunset and avoid any night travel. The continuous drizzle increases the risk of hypothermia due to getting wet; wear your outer shell during breaks and replenish energy with snacks.
