Mount Meakan is experiencing persistent heavy drizzle this morning, with visibility around the summit limited to 1.7 kilometers. There is an approximate 5°C temperature difference from the base, bringing the summit's felt temperature down to 10.2°C. Drizzle is forecast to continue throughout the day, resulting in wet and muddy trail conditions across the mountain. Particular caution is advised on the scree sections of the Onneto Course, where the risk of slipping and falling is elevated due to the wet terrain.

The combination of 99% humidity, drizzle, and wind gusts up to 9.4 m/s will make the felt temperature considerably colder than the actual reading. Waterproof and breathable outer layers for both upper and lower body are essential. Wear a quick-drying base layer and a mid-layer such as fleece for insulation. A hat and waterproof gloves are also necessary to prevent hypothermia from getting wet. Near the fumarole groups around the crater lakes, there is a risk of exposure to sulfur gas due to sudden wind shifts, especially under poor visibility; avoid unnecessary entry into these areas.

While there are no signs of lightning, be mindful of potential loss of balance due to wind gusts. The drizzle is expected to weaken by evening, transitioning to cloudy skies overnight. However, the poor visibility and wet ground conditions from the day will persist. Avoid activity after sunset and plan your ascent and descent accordingly.
