The summit of Mt. Ontake is currently experiencing light drizzle with limited visibility of 1.7km. However, conditions are expected to improve throughout the day, with clear views anticipated by noon. There is a significant temperature difference of 9.5°C between the summit and the base, with summit temperatures remaining in single digits, feeling as low as 3.7°C in the early morning. The white volcanic gravel slopes above the tree line, especially towards Kengamine peak, are wet from the drizzle and can be slippery. Exercise extreme caution with foot placement.

For today's activity, waterproof and breathable rainwear, both top and bottom, is essential to prevent hypothermia from getting wet. Wear a quick-drying base layer, a warm mid-layer like fleece, and a rain jacket as an outer layer. Carry additional insulation such as a down jacket for breaks. While gusts are not expected to exceed 10.2m/s, which is not prohibitive for climbing, the perceived wind chill will increase on exposed ridges, so maintain adequate cold weather protection.
