There is approximately a 10-degree Celsius temperature difference from the base, indicating a significant drop in perceived temperature as elevation increases. With the daytime high only reaching around 7.2 degrees Celsius, a base layer, mid-layer, and waterproof/windproof outer layer are essential. It is also advisable to carry insulation for breaks.

While light cloud cover will persist through the morning, a weak drizzle is forecast to begin around 3 PM. Although precipitation will be light, high humidity means there is a good chance of getting wet. The white volcanic gravel slopes above the tree line become slippery when wet, so extreme caution is advised, especially when heading towards Kengamine Peak. The ground is generally wet to muddy, with no concerns about snow or ice.

Winds are calm, but daytime gusts up to 9 meters per second could further reduce the perceived temperature.
