Mount Poroshiri began the day under clear skies. The summit currently reports 8.3℃ with a feels-like temperature of 5.5℃. While daytime temperatures are expected to rise to 11.4℃ by noon, wind gusts could drop the feels-like temperature to around 1℃. The ground is generally dry with no snow cover, but expect damp conditions along riverbanks and in shaded areas, particularly on the Ekihiragawa Course.

Daytime activity is feasible under these mild conditions. However, those traversing the Ekihiragawa Course, which involves over 20 river crossings, must be prepared for wet conditions. Carry river shoes or water-compatible footwear and spare clothing. Although no precipitation is expected during the day, light rain is forecast from late evening, potentially affecting river levels by tomorrow. The deep primeval forests of Hidaka are known bear habitats; take full precautions such as bear bells and spray.

For layering, wear a quick-drying base layer, a light fleece or synthetic insulation for the mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable shell as an outer layer. Don the outer shell during breaks or on exposed ridges to prevent hypothermia. Crampons or microspikes are not needed, but carrying full rain gear (jacket and pants) is essential.

Cloudy conditions are expected from 6 PM, with precipitation probability rising by 9 PM, leading to light rain around midnight. Complete your activities safely during daylight hours and reach Poroshiri Hut early. While visibility is excellent at over 20km during the day, evening drizzle could reduce it.
