It is essential to carry a base layer, a thin fleece or synthetic shirt, and a windproof and waterproof shell. Be prepared for cooler conditions during ridge traverses or breaks, and adjust your layering frequently.

Ground conditions on major routes are mostly dry. However, in areas typical of Hakkoda's wetlands and around crater lakes, expect some muddy or wet sections due to morning dew or residual moisture. Particular caution is advised on the descent route from Mount Odake to Sukayu Onsen. There is no snow cover, so crampons or microspikes are not needed.

While the probability of precipitation increases in the afternoon, the forecast indicates zero millimeters of rainfall, suggesting light rain or mist. Hakkoda is known for its risk of getting lost in thick fog within wetland areas, so always carry full rain gear (jacket and pants), a map, compass, and GPS. The risk of thunderstorms and strong winds is low, with maximum gusts around 5.6 meters per second, which should not impede your activities. However, when passing near Jigokunuma (Hell Pond), be mindful of potential volcanic gas emissions. Calm weather is expected to continue into the evening, but temperatures will drop to around 10 degrees Celsius overnight, so ensure adequate cold weather protection.
