Tokachidake presents clear skies today with excellent visibility exceeding 20km from the summit. Hikers ascending via the Bougakudai Course will be able to fully enjoy the magnificent scenery characteristic of this active volcano.

At 7 AM, the summit's feels-like temperature was 0.2°C. Temperatures are expected to rise throughout the day, reaching 7.2°C by noon and 7.7°C by 3 PM. While winds are generally light, gusts up to 8.5 m/s are anticipated around midday, particularly on exposed ridges above the tree line. Proper layering is crucial to manage the feels-like temperature effectively.

There is no snow cover, and ground conditions are dry with predominantly exposed rock. Hikers should be mindful of their footing to prevent slips and falls. Near the Shin-funkakou (New Crater), elevated volcanic gas concentrations can be a concern depending on wind direction, so remain vigilant. Essential clothing includes a moisture-wicking base layer, an insulating mid-layer, and a windproof/waterproof outer shell. Carry an additional warm layer, such as a down jacket, for breaks and colder periods. Gloves and a hat are also recommended. The risk of hypothermia is low during active daytime hiking, but it significantly increases during static periods or in the early morning and late evening when temperatures approach freezing.

Temperatures will drop rapidly after sunset, falling to around 0°C by midnight. Plan your descent to be completed during daylight hours to avoid the cold and ensure safety. No lightning activity or winds severe enough to necessitate halting operations are currently forecast.
