Conditions generally good — Conduct standard mountain safety measures
Misty and cold conditions are expected on Mt. Asahidake today, with persistent light rain and poor visibility, especially near the summit. Currently, the summit temperature is 6.2 degrees Celsius, feeling like 4.1 degrees Celsius. Temperatures will remain low throughout the day, barely reaching 8 degrees Celsius, with even lower wind chill.
For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or light down mid-layer, and a waterproof-breathable rain jacket are essential. Carry extra insulation as cold conditions are expected during activity. Due to continuous light rain and precipitation forecasts, the ground will be wet to muddy. There is no residual snow, and exposed rocky sections will be slippery. Full rain gear is mandatory, and waterproof hiking boots are recommended. Trekking poles are effective for stability on slippery terrain. Microspikes are not needed.
Visibility is currently below 1km, with no significant improvement expected. This creates a high risk of getting lost, particularly on the route from Ropeway Sugatami Station to the summit. Around the Fumarole Group (Jigokudani), stay strictly on marked trails due to gas and hot water hazards, especially in poor visibility. Do not underestimate the cold conditions, even in summer; prepare adequate cold weather gear for Hokkaido's highest peak. While there are no signs of lightning and winds are not strong enough to impede movement, the risk of hypothermia is elevated due to low temperatures and persistent rain. Wear insulation immediately during breaks and change wet clothes promptly. With proper equipment and experience, ascending is possible if you understand the risks of poor visibility, low temperatures, and getting wet. However, do not overexert yourself and have the courage to turn back if visibility becomes too poor or conditions feel unsafe. Temperatures will drop further overnight, reaching around 2 degrees Celsius by early morning, but precipitation is expected to cease.

Mountain Guide
概要 Overview
Features
