As of 7 AM, the Niseko Hirafu summit is cloudy with visibility less than 1km, indicating poor conditions. The temperature is 9.2°C, with a felt temperature in the low 7s. There is a 6°C difference compared to the base. While the summit area is expected to warm to around 12°C during the day, light drizzle is forecasted to begin around noon and continue into the evening. Humidity will be high, and wet ground conditions will make trails slippery. Especially on the Niseko Hirafu ridgelines, poor visibility will persist, potentially approaching whiteout conditions, requiring extra caution. Pay close attention to your footing during activity to prevent slips and falls.

As wet conditions are anticipated, waterproof and breathable rainwear (top and bottom) is essential. For layering, use a quick-drying synthetic base layer and a thin fleece for a mid-layer, adjusting as needed during activity. Carry an additional insulating layer for breaks or prolonged stops. Ground conditions will be generally wet, with muddy sections increasing on trails around the Hirafu ski area and in the tree run routes. Waterproof hiking boots are mandatory.

A temperature drop of approximately 7°C is expected at the summit over the forecast period. When wet from drizzle, the body's felt temperature will drop further, increasing the risk of hypothermia. Be prepared for sudden changes during your activity by carrying an extra insulating layer from the outset, and be ready to turn back early if you notice any physical discomfort. The afternoon to evening period requires particular vigilance. Although the wind is light, do not underestimate the risks associated with poor visibility and wet conditions.
