Gusts reaching 23.5m/s are strong enough to cause loss of balance, posing an extreme risk of hypothermia during ridge traverse. A waterproof-breathable shell, warm mid-layers, and wicking base layers are essential. Waterproof gloves and a warm hat are also crucial to prevent frostbite.
