Today on Mt. Ontake, generally calm weather is expected throughout the day. The summit currently sees light clouds with a temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius, feeling like -0.3 degrees Celsius. There is a significant 9.5-degree difference from the base. While light clouds persist this morning, clear skies are expected by noon, with temperatures rising to 6.5 degrees Celsius by 3 PM. Winds will remain light all day, with gusts up to 7.3 m/s, posing minimal impact on movement. The ridges around Kengamine and the crater lakes will also remain relatively calm.

With no precipitation and zero snow depth, the white volcanic scree slopes above the treeline are generally dry. However, due to high humidity, some areas may be damp in the morning. Drying will progress with rising daytime temperatures. The risk of muddy conditions is low.

As perceived temperatures may drop below freezing at times, continued vigilance against hypothermia is necessary. Layering should include a quick-drying base, a mid-weight fleece, and a waterproof/windproof shell. Carry a light down or synthetic insulation layer for breaks or in case of morning chill.

Crampons and microspikes are not required. Rain gear is essential. Given Mt. Ontake's status as an active volcano, carrying a helmet is strongly recommended as a precaution. Clearer skies are anticipated from evening into night, with temperatures dropping to around 1 degree Celsius, while winds further subside.
