For layering, a quick-drying base layer, a light fleece mid-layer, and a windproof and waterproof outer shell are mandatory. Carry insulating layers such as a down jacket or a thicker fleece for breaks and when the wind picks up in the afternoon. Gloves and a hat are also crucial to protect against the cold. While the risk of lightning is low, the combination of low temperatures, high humidity, and light drizzle increases the risk of hypothermia. Pay close attention to staying dry and warm, and regularly consume trail food to maintain energy.
