Mount Poroshiri awakens to a clear, sunny morning. The summit currently registers 8.9°C with a feel of 5.5°C. The forecast indicates continued clear skies throughout the day, with temperatures expected to rise to 14°C. Winds remain gentle, peaking at 3.7m/s with gusts up to 11.6m/s. Ground conditions are primarily dry and exposed rock, though damp areas and mud can be expected within the deep old-growth forests of Hidaka.

With no precipitation in the forecast, the risk of rapid water level increase in the Ekihira River route is low. However, snowmelt may still contribute to higher water volumes in the river. As the route involves over 20 river crossings, river shoes or spare footwear are essential. Exercise extreme caution during crossings to avoid being swept away.

The apparent temperature at the summit may drop to around 5°C, potentially reaching 4°C during gusts. Wear a quick-drying base layer, a light fleece for mid-layer, and carry a windproof and waterproof jacket as an outer layer. For breaks or on the ridge, add a fleece or light down jacket for warmth. Gloves and a hat are also recommended. Lightning risk is low, and winds are not strong enough to impede movement. Be aware of the long approach and the high density of brown bears; carry ample food and water, a headlamp, and thoroughly implement bear safety measures.

The evening will see some light cloud cover, becoming cloudy overnight. Temperatures will drop to around 6°C. If your activity extends into the night, be vigilant against hypothermia and maintain adequate insulation.
