Zao Mountain Range offers excellent conditions for daytime hiking under clear skies. Current summit conditions show a temperature of 9.6°C, feeling like 6.3°C. Winds are light, with gusts peaking at 12.5 m/s, indicating a calm day. Temperatures are expected to rise to a maximum of 16.9°C during the day, promising a pleasant hike. Note the significant temperature difference of 6.5°C between the summit and the base (16.1°C), necessitating appropriate layering.

There is no snow cover, and the ground is entirely dry, consisting of exposed rock formations. Crampons or microspikes are not required. For active wear, a quick-drying base layer, a fleece or light down jacket as a mid-layer, and a windproof softshell as an outer layer are recommended for effective temperature regulation. For breaks, an additional warm layer like a lightweight down jacket will help prevent body temperature drops. Carry rain gear as a precaution.

Visibility today is excellent, exceeding 20 km, offering superb views of the crater lake Okama and from Mount Kumano. The ridge traverse from Mount Karita to Mount Kumano and Mount Jizo will also be enjoyable due to the gentle winds. However, strictly observe the no-entry regulations around the Okama crater and do not deviate from designated routes. The risk of lightning and hypothermia is low.

Clear skies will persist into the evening and night, with winds further diminishing. Temperatures will gradually drop to around 10°C overnight, which is manageable with proper gear. For those planning post-sunset activities, remember to bring a headlamp and additional warm clothing.
